Although not number one steroid for bodybuilders, Winstrol is the most popular anabolic steroid in many other sports. For gaining mass, stanozolol is stacked with other, more anabolic medicaments, but it plays a significant role in blocking estrogenic side-effects (apparently because it occupies the progesterone receptors but doesn’t activate them), and eliciting decent muscle gains that are easy to maintain. Winstrol also causes hardness of muscles and significantly increases strength.
Interestingly, this anabolic steroid is actually a form of modified dihydrotestosterone (just like Proviron) which explains its significant androgenic properties. It is also known to increase vascularity. When stacked with other steroids, stanozolol may prove very useful in lowering SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin), thus releasing more available testosterone and related compounds.

Safety

Stanozolol causes enough androgenic side-effects to be discouraged in women. In oral form (some users also drink the injectable liquid that is a water-solution) it will cause increased liver values after more than 6-8 weeks of use. Because it must be injected frequently, prolonged use of Winstrol can cause abscesses.
